Staff at travel and leisure company TUI say they’ll be proud to work at a new office development in Swansea city centre. TUI are among a number of tenants already confirmed for the 71/72 Kingsway scheme at the former Oceana nightclub site. Developed by Swansea Council and part-funded by the Swansea Bay City Deal, the development will accommodate up to 600 jobs. TUI staff currently based at Alexandra House will move there in the coming weeks, helping to retain jobs in the city centre. A new Oysho Cardiff Half interactive Daily Mile challenge has been launched for schools across Wales to take get involved with all the excitement as race day approaches. Run 4 Wales has partnered with Run Wales at Welsh Athletics to launch the free initiative which is designed to inspire children to move in a fun, simple and flexible way – all while encouraging links with learning and the community. CARDIFF-based fabricator Dudley’s Aluminium has secured three new projects within the education sector as the new academic year begins. Dudley’s Aluminium will work alongside Wilmott Dixon to install Kawneer curtain walling, windows and doors on two projects: Glyncoch Primary School based in Rhondda Cynon Taf, an English medium primary school which is being built to Passivhaus standards, and Airfield Primary Academy, a 630-place school in Weston-super-Mare. Both schools, expected to open in 2026, are designed with the environment in mind and will also include facilities for the wider community. A 20-year-old Mid Wales chef, who this week aims to outcook rivals from across Europe, has been described as a role model for Welsh apprentices. Gabi Wilson, from Rhayader, is representing Team UK in the cooking competition at EuroSkills Herning in Denmark this week until Friday in the latest chapter of a remarkable culinary learning journey. The career of opera star Rhys Meirion has taken an unexpected turn after beating cancer – he’s joined a rock group. Today (Thursday, 11 September 2025) Urdd Gobaith Cymru has confirmed that 2028’s National Eisteddfod yr Urdd will be held in Eryri, Gwynedd. A public meeting for volunteers and supporters will be held in Ysgol Brynerfail, Llanrug on Wednesday, 24 September. A bereaved mother, whose baby died due to NHS maternity failings, is calling for all hospital investigations into such tragedies in Wales to be independently conducted, and not undertaken by staff who work within the hospital where the incidents occurred. Emily Brazier’s daughter Liliwen Iris Thomas died 20 hours after her birth at the University Hospital of Wales, after Emily was given so much pain medication and unlimited access to Entonox (gas and air) without any supervision, resulting in her being unaware she had given birth.
