Parents looking for fun ways to entertain their children during the summer holiday are being encouraged to check out an enticing offer by a popular Mid Wales escape rooms attraction. As part of Powys County Council’s ‘Summer of Fun’ programme, Beyond Breakout in Newtown will be making its Outdoor escape games available to play for free on certain dates. Construction of Swansea’s new £135m Copr Bay destination has led to a major boost for local workers and businesses. New figures show over 8,000 person weeks of employment, apprenticeships and trainee placements were secured throughout the build of the new district, which includes Swansea Arena. A new nursery school has officially opened in the Gurnos Estate, Merthyr Tydfil called ‘Safle’r Gurnos’ ’ which is currently a satellite provision of Santes Tudful Primary School but will grow into a third Welsh medium school for the County Borough. A building project that will transform education for vulnerable learners in Powys has reached an important milestone, the county council has announced. ISG Ltd has been awarded the contract by Powys County Council to build a new school for Brynllywarch Hall School. Construction on the £9.1m project will start early next year. The school, located in Kerry near Newtown, provides education for pupils from 8 to 19-year-olds, with a wide range of complex emotional, behavioural and social difficulties. Finance and Local Government Minister Rebecca Evans visited a workshop in Merthyr today to see carbon neutral plastic trombones being assembled for Wales’s 7yr olds. The Merthyr Institute for the Blind (MTIB) workshop in Pentrebach is part of a consortium employing disabled and disadvantaged workers to assemble instruments for primary school pupils as part of the new national music service.
