Pupils counting down the weeks until they can move into their new school building have created a lasting legacy to let children in the future know what school life is like today. The children at Ysgol Gymraeg Tan-y-lan have worked with staff to gather items for a time capsule that has been buried on the site of the new £9.9m build in Clase. Bridgend County Borough Council has welcomed news that The Senior Open Presented by Rolex will return to the Royal Porthcawl Golf Club in the summer of 2023. The event will mark the third time that Porthcawl will have hosted the Senior Open – Europe’s only senior major championship tournament – when it returns between 27-30 July 2023. Recently, Cyfarthfa Park and Aberfan Community Centre hosted the annual Shwmae Su’mae event. As part of the celebrations, Cyfarthfa Park, Troedyrhiw and Abercanaid Primary schools performed a variety of musical items. There was also a solo performance from a Rhydywaun pupil. Children from Ysgol Gynradd Coed y Dderwen also took part on Saturday offering Welsh parachuting games for members of the public. The new Cardiff Northern Cemetery, on  Thornhill Road, will officially open on Wednesday, October 20, providing much needed burial space in the north of the city for the next 15+ years. The cemetery design includes lawn graves, traditional graves, cremated remains graves, as well as a natural burial area that will be managed to increase biodiversity within the site.
