Morrisons is looking to recruit 3,000 new colleagues ahead of the festive season in order to meet increased demand at Christmas. This year’s holiday season is anticipated to be even busier than usual as customers try to make up for last year’s restricted celebrations and hold multiple gatherings with their friends and family. A date has been set for Rhyl Pavilion to reopen its doors after a period of closure due to a burst water tank. The iconic theatre in Rhyl suffered significant damage back in July, when many areas of the building were flooded.  Despite an extensive drying out period and a full schedule of remedial works, Denbighshire Leisure Ltd has pulled out all the stops to get things up and running once more. One of Wales’ leading environmental charities is urging dog owners to do the right thing and pick up after their pets as part of a new national campaign. Although an estimated nine out of ten dog owners pick up after their pets, dog poo remains a persistent issue in communities across the country. Keep Wales Tidy’s campaign aims to raise awareness of the health risks associated with dog poo; not just for humans but also for livestock and other pets. Swansea Council has appointed an experienced South Wales-based contractor to transform the city centre’s historic Palace Theatre building. R&M Williams Ltd have a track record of working with heritage buildings, including £4m refurbishment projects at the grade two listed Penarth Pier Pavilion and Empire House, an iconic 1920s Cardiff landmark They will now be main contractor at Swansea’s flatiron-shaped 133-year-old Palace, a grade two listed building that once staged performances with the likes of Charlie Chaplin and Sir Anthony Hopkins. Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council has launched a grants programme to help social enterprises, community groups, tourism businesses and sports clubs pay for capital projects. The Social Enterprise, Tourism & Sport (SETS) Capital Grant will support applicants in carrying out building and infrastructure work, and making large purchases to help them expand their existing services and activities. Improvement works to refurbish one of Cardiff’s play areas has begun this month. Llandaff Fields Play area will be undertaking improvements to the play area from October 2021. All the current play equipment in the play area will remain open for the majority of the works.
