More than 300,000 tax credits customers have just over one week to renew their claims before the 31 July deadline, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has warned. As the deadline approaches, customers are being urged not to leave their renewal until the last minute and risk their payments being stopped. People are being urged to ensure they only dial 999 if they need to speak to the police in an emergency – and ensure phone lines are freed up for those who do need immediate help. In June 2021, South Wales Police received its highest-ever monthly total of 999 calls, at 21,501. Family, friends and supporters of Bob Gledhill, from Carmarthen, have raised almost £65,000 for research into Motor Neurone Disease, following an extreme sports challenge held earlier this month. Fundraisers took on the Motoron Cymru challenge, which involved climbing the Welsh Three Peaks, Yr Wyddfa, Cader Idris and Pen y Fan, cycling between each one – all over just three days. Bob Gledhill, 52, his wife, Dr Lowri Davies, and son, Will, 16, who live in Rhyd-ar-gaeau, near Carmarthen, launched the challenge after Bob was diagnosed with MND, a life-shortening illness, last autumn. A DOUBLE-vaccinated paramedic who has been struck down by Covid-19 is urging others to remain vigilant against the virus. Mum-of-two Amanda Williams, of Swansea, tested positive for the virus on Tuesday after developing a dry cough. The 56-year-old has since developed symptoms which have left her bed-bound including stomach cramps, a sore throat, headache, tiredness and nausea.
