A brand new Aldi store in Newtown opened its doors to customers this week. The new Pool Road store is the first Aldi to open in and around Newtown, and will be run by Store Manager Karl Beck, along with a team of 25 colleagues from the local community. A LOYAL fan of radio star Chris Evans from Gwent is revving up to meet her hero – thanks to a special antique car and a trailer maker. Ifor Williams Trailers came to the rescue after Nichy Williams, from the small village of Ponthir in Torfaen, was chosen to have the honour of helping open the radio and TV star’s CarFest North event. A fast-growing financial advisory firm from Flintshire that specialises in ethical investments has won a top environmental award. Mold-based Celtic Financial Planning won the micro business award at the inaugural Net Zero Leaders’ Awards for their eco-friendly approach. The awards were organised by the North Wales and Mersey Dee Business Council as part of their Net Zero 2021 online conference which was designed to encourage private sector and not-for-profit organisations across the Wirral, Cheshire and North Wales to reduce their carbon footprint. Farmers from Montgomeryshire and Farmers’ Union of Wales officials have met with local MP Craig Williams and UK Minister for Trade Policy Greg Hands to reinforce the industry’s concerns about the free trade deal with Australia. Communities for Work plus project have been able to help a Ceredigion resident get back into work after being made redundant left him out of work. Jahsyl Abberton from Aberystwyth was made redundant from his full-time post but managed to find temporary and part-time work. Whilst working as a waiter and a Door supervisor, Jahsyl came across the Communities for Work plus project in the local newspaper and decided to visit the council office to find out more information. A Swansea brother and sister are on board to run a new food and drink business forming part of the city’s emerging Copr Bay phase one district. Ryan and Lucy Hole – owners of The Secret Hospitality Group – have signed a lease for a 1,400 square foot restaurant and café being constructed at the 1.1-acre coastal park next to the Swansea Arena.
