A teenager who has her sights on a teaching career after moving half way around the world to begin a new life in South Wales has won a prestigious national award. Jessica Apps, 19, from Forge Side, Blaenavon, was named Traineeship Learner of the Year (Engagement) at the Apprenticeship Awards Cymru 2021 virtual ceremony on June 17. NEW guidelines to help courts determine how to sentence those who assault an emergency worker come into effect today, Thursday 01 July 2021. The Sentencing Council guidelines will help courts in England and Wales to make a balanced assessment of the seriousness of the offence and impose a proportionate sentence. South Wales Police has launched a murder investigation following the death of a man on June 25, 2021. Carl Chinnock, 50, had been admitted to the Princess of Wales hospital, Bridgend, two days before he passed away, having been found with a serious head injury in Salt Lake Car Park, Porthcawl, just before midnight on Wednesday, June 23. A Home Office Post Mortem has been carried out indicating that Carl has been subject of an assault.
