Swansea Council is making it easier than ever for residents to check if they’ve got the Covid-19 virus. Free Lateral Flow Testing kits (LFTs) are available at libraries in Clydach, Brynyfryd, Gorseinon, Killay, Morriston and Pontarddulais. Around one-in-three people who have the virus show no symptoms but can still unwittingly spread it to people they come into contact with. Neath Port Talbot’s first ever Welsh-medium youth club has been launched for young people living in the Swansea and Amman Valleys. Clwb Ieuenctid Symudol has been launched by Neath Port Talbot Council’s Youth Service to give young people the chance to develop their Welsh language skills and to tackle social isolation. Businesses in Wales that continue to be affected by Covid restrictions will receive up to £25,000 of additional support from the Welsh Government, Economy Minister, Vaughan Gething, announced today. The emergency package of support will cover the operating costs for July and August 2021 of businesses required to remain closed and who remain severely impacted as a result of the continuation of the restrictions. A new £10m grant will be introduced this month to help people in private rented accommodation who are struggling to pay their rent because of the pandemic. The Tenancy Hardship Grant is designed to support people who have fallen behind on their rent by more than eight weeks between 1 March 2020 and 30 June 2021.
