A man from Pentre has been jailed for assault and coercive control following a South Wales Police investigation. Daniel Batstone, 29, from Pentre was sentenced on March 23 at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court to one year and six months in prison. This sentence follows a change in plea from not guilty to guilty for one count of engaging in control/ coercive behaviour and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. A teenage cyclist has died following a collision with a car in Cardiff. South Wales Police have confirmed that officers are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which happened at the junction of Penarth Road and Clare Road at around 12.25pm on Wednesday. Police are investigating a series of burglaries in Cardiff where offenders have entered homes while residents were inside and asleep. South Wales Police say four so called “creeper” burglaries have been reported in the Riverside area since Friday, March 20. Next steps are being planned to explore the future development of a zero-emission fast ferry service between Swansea and South West England following overwhelming public support for the idea. An 18-year-old man has been charged after police seized crack cocaine and a number of vehicles during an incident in Cardiff. Neighbourhood officers from South Wales Police were on foot patrol on Monday morning (March 23) when they spotted an off-road bike being ridden along Ball Lane and the Rhymney River Path. When an officer attempted to challenge the rider, the individual made off, leading to a foot chase. A suspect was subsequently arrested.
