Counselling and wellbeing centre Breathe has won Counselling Specialists of the Year at the Wales Prestige Awards. Breathe counsellors work with people all over the UK – online, over the phone, and in-person in its Cardiff centre. Following a particularly difficult year with many struggling with their mental health, counsellors have worked with more people to overcome the challenges they face. The life of a former Caerphilly MP has been commemorated this week (Tuesday 24th August) on the centenary of his election to parliament. Morgan Jones was elected in 1921 and a special information panel about this key historical figure has been unveiled within Morgan Jones Park, Caerphilly. Morgan Jones was born in Gelligaer in 1885. When the First World War began in 1914, he opposed the war for religious and political reasons and was imprisoned. All community vaccination centres in the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board region are now accepting walk-ins from anyone aged 16 and over. This allows any 16 and 17-year-old who has been unable to attend their scheduled appointment to get their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. The latest figures from the health board show that 99,000 people in Bridgend County Borough are now fully vaccinated. Dozens of employers and organisations will descend on Bridgend town centre next month for Bridgend’s first outdoor Jobs Fair. The free event, which will be in various locations around Bridgend town centre, including Dunraven Place and Caroline Street, is being held between 10am-2pm on Thursday September 16.
