250,000 people have signed a Change.org petition calling on the UK Government to urgently halt the export of tear gas, rubber bullets and riot shields from the UK to the US. South Wales Police is investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred at 6.00pm on Thursday 4th June 2020 on the A4232 Central Link roundabout prior to the Queensgate Roundabout, Cardiff. The incident involved a black Aprilia motorcycle ridden by a 54 year-old man from the Grangetown area. The motorcyclist was declared deceased at scene and his family is being supported by a specially trained liaison officer. The letter calls on Grant Shapps to invest in the Wales and Borders rail network through the UK Government’s Restoring Your Railways fund, not only to improve rail connectivity, but to supercharge Wales’ post Covid-19 recovery. Contractors have moved on-site to start work on the Community Athletics Hub at Rhiw Syr Dafydd Primary School in Oakdale. The new facility was approved by the council’s Planning Committee on 23rd January 2020, and contractors Blakedown Sport and Play have moved onto the site this week and will begin construction week commencing the 8th June. A generous donation of 200 mobile phones to Cardiff Council’s homeless service is supporting vulnerable individuals on their journey away from the streets. Tesco Mobile have provided the devices, each with pre-loaded credit, so that individuals in emergency accommodation can keep in touch with their support workers. The current health emergency has presented services with a unique opportunity to better engage with homeless individuals in the city.
