A Welsh Government programme that funds projects to help people with care and support needs live independently has been extended until at least March 2027. The news that up to £60.5m has been ring-fenced to allow the Housing with Care Fund to continue was confirmed by Housing and Local Government Cabinet Secretary Jayne Bryant today (Wednesday, June 25). A group of pupils from a Cardiff secondary school have worked with members of the House of Lords on a Parliamentary inquiry into climate change and the impact of nitrogen on the environment. Mary Immaculate High School was one of only six schools from across the UK, and the only one from Wales, selected to participate in the House of Lords’ 2024-5 Youth Engagement Programme. Aerospace students put their skills to the test in a competition aimed at highlighting their technological talents – and once again Swansea University lifted the top prize. The University teamed up with ST Engineering Antycip (Antycip), in collaboration with Merlin Flight Simulation Group, to host the IT FLIES UK 2025 Aircraft Design and Handling competition. A double investment of £47 million at a fast growing bakery in North Wales will create 150 new jobs. The Jones Village Bakery has revealed it’s going to be installing a £20 million state-of-the-art production line to make bread and rolls at its headquarters site on Wrexham Industrial Estate. When it becomes operational, the 140,000 sq ft bakery in Ash Road will be full to capacity. The RSPCA has revealed that hedgehogs are the wildlife most likely to need help this summer in Wales – as the animal welfare charity launches a new ‘Local Animal Hero’ guide to mobilise local residents to help sick and injured animals.
