Wales rugby fans and bus users in Cardiff are being urged to plan their journeys ahead of time as the Six Nations returns to the city this weekend. Travellers are being reminded by Cardiff Bus of diversions and road closures which are set to come into force on Saturday as Wales take on France at the Principality Stadium. From 1pm to 8.30pm diversions will be in place and buses will use alternative city centre stops, with St Mary Street remaining closed and buses following their Saturday night diversions from 8.30pm. Independent café, Wildflower Kitchen, has opened its doors in Cardiff after securing a five-figure funding package from NatWest. Entrepreneur Celyn Baker obtained £50,000 in finance from NatWest to help acquire the 250 sq m premises on Whitchurch Road and transform the former Greek restaurant into a 80-cover café. Offering all-day brunch, a range of homemade cakes and lunch, the menu has been developed to change with the seasons including hot pots in winter and a daily-changing salad bar. Construction of a new 107,000 sq ft office building at John Street in central Cardiff has reached a key milestone with the completion of the ground floor ‘slab’, and the building is now ahead of programme. A tower crane moved on to the site at Callaghan Square in Cardiff’s Central Business District before Christmas so work on constructing the office building’s 10 storeys can proceed. This evening, Welsh actor Michael Sheen launched a GoFundMe campaign to help those in Wales whose homes and lives have been turned upside down by the recent extreme weather. Wales’ largest food redistribution charity is expanding its reach in Swansea and is inviting local charities whose service users could benefit from nutritious surplus food to attend a Meet & Greet event. FareShare Cymru is part of the FareShare network of regional centres across the UK and works with the food industry to redistribute excess food, which would otherwise go to waste, to people in need via its network of charity members.
