The North Wales Economic Ambition Board has submitted its Bid for a Growth Deal to both the UK and Welsh Governments. The regional partners are being invited to adopt the Bid – called the Proposition Document – during October in readiness for a first stage agreement between Governments and the region. Grand Tour Champion Geraint Thomas has been honoured with an Outstanding Achievement Award at the 2018 Litelok Welsh Cycling Awards where Wales’ cycling community celebrated their success over the last twelve months. The event took place at the Mercure Hotel in Cardiff. Geraint who was unable to attend the event, accepted the award in a pre recorded link. A new grant fund to encourage and support entrepreneurship in Further and Higher Education has been announced by Economy Secretary Ken Skates. A Welsh landlord had been ordered to give back almost £4,000 that was paid to him while operating without a licence. Friends and colleagues of a late clinical scientist have marked what would have been her 40th birthday by paying for a day of care at the hospice that cared for her in her final weeks. A Preparatory School cricketer has achieved a place on an exciting new national development programme after a standout season. With bonfire night fast approaching, the Farmers’ Union of Wales is urging people to remember the distress fireworks and sky lanterns can cause to livestock and pets and reminds them of the dangers posed by bonfires. “We call on people to stick to the firework safety code at all times, especially over the bonfire and Halloween season, to minimise the risk to livestock, pets and humans,” said FUW Policy Officer Charlotte Priddy. “This time of year poses many dangers to animals and children – so don’t let negligence and ignorance be the cause for a real-life horror,” added Mrs Priddy.…

A dad who thought he wouldn’t be able to walk his dog following a heart attack has cycled the length of Britain to thank the team who helped him. Gareth Williams became unwell while cycling from Tenby to his home near Swansea in June last year. He was taken to Morriston Hospital where he was fitted with a stent that same night after a heart attack was confirmed.
