Wales’ Celtic rainforests will get a new lease of life this autumn with £8.6m of funding backed by the European and Welsh Government. Through the eradication of invasive alien plant species and the implementation of proactive management the aim is to bring these woodlands back to their former fertile state. Cardiff Bay was alive with action over the Bank Holiday weekend, as two boats capsized within moments of each other on the Extreme Sailing Series™ racecourse. The environmental charity Keep Wales Tidy is launching an exciting project which will help keep Wales’ streets clean by turning chewing gum waste into beach products. Continuing their partnership with Gumdrop Ltd, the first company in the world to recycle and process chewing gum, Keep Wales Tidy have designed branded bucket and spades sets entirely made from the recycled gum material. The innovative project hopes to highlight the problem of chewing gum on our streets while producing sustainable products from the waste collected. Pride Cymru’s Big Weekend 2018 continues in Cardiff, with the famous Pride Parade and over 15,000 attendees at the yesterday’s event (25 August).
