A native of Waunfawr, Tame has been behind a range of exciting new projects at Wales’ oldest record label over the past 18 months and has now taken on a permanent role. Sain, which means ‘audio’ or ‘sound’ in Welsh, was co-founded by Welsh protest singer Dafydd Iwan in 1969. A pioneering project between the University of South Wales (USW) and Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB) has successfully repurposed medical items, saving over £20,000 and significantly reducing clinical waste within just six months. Launched in response to the Well-being of Future Generations Act and the NHS Wales Decarbonisation Plan, the initiative aims to formalise a sustainable waste stream that diverts unused medical items away from incineration and into the hands of healthcare students at USW. The Vale of Glamorgan Council has led a project to revitalise a popular walking route in Penarth. The alleyways connecting the St Paul’s Avenue flats to Hazel Road and Lavernock Road were in need of improvement after feedback from residents highlighted concerns about litter, safety after dark and the overall appearance of the area. Public transport links in Swansea and neighbouring towns are set to be improved as part of a five-year regional transport plan. Swansea Council is set to endorse a long list of transport-related schemes, specific to Swansea, that could be developed from 2026/27 onwards. The schemes are being proposed after extensive public consultation and will be subject to Welsh Government approval and funding.
