Detectives investigating a scam where fraudsters purport to be police officers have made an arrest. An 18 year old London man has been arrested in Cardiff yesterday evening on suspicion of Theft and Fraud. The arrest was in connection with a series of scams committed in the Penarth and Cardiff area today in which three elderly victims were conned in to handing over approximately £20,000. He is currently in police custody at Bridgend. A COLLEGE jumped at the chance to house its student restaurant at an award-winning racecourse. While Coleg Cambria Yale in Wrexham is undergoing a £21million revamp its popular Hafod restaurant will relocate to Bangor on Dee in Wrexham. The course hosts 14 jump races a year – as well as weddings, conferences and events – with catering provided by the Horseradish Group. Horseradish and Cambria are already in partnership and plan to open the venue every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday lunchtime until the Yale restaurant reopens in September 2020. Tobacco control campaign group Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) Wales has praised a manufacturing firm after workers quit smoking thanks to a ground breaking workplace scheme. It is urging other companies to follow the example of the manufacturing firm Sandvik Osprey which holds smoking cessation sessions run by NHS Wales at its Neath Port Talbot plant. Minister for Economy and Transport and Minister for North Wales, Ken Skates has officially opened the final section of the Llangefni Link Road. During the visit to Anglesey today, the Minister said the completed scheme would bring great benefits to the local area and Anglesey as whole. Talyllyn Railway, the world’s first preserved railway, attracted the highest number of passengers for more than a decade and achieved record income last year. The railway ran 93,822 journeys and carried 48,857 passengers, the highest number since 2007. Passenger numbers increased by 7.1% on 2017. In addition, the railway achieved an all-time record income, with a 13% increase on 2017. Cafés reported a 16% revenue increase.
