The national charity for older people in Wales, Age Cymru, is urging pensioners to learn more about the thousands of pounds of support they are entitled to, but not claiming. In the UK, £3bn of state benefits a year goes unclaimed, and in Wales over £100m of that is on unclaimed pension credits alone. One in three new parents are missing out on Child Benefit payments in their baby’s first year, new figures reveal. HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is urging parents who welcomed a baby this Spring to claim now via the HMRC app or online at GOV.UK. While more than 6.8 million parents received Child Benefit in the year to August 2025, only 68.8% of them claimed the crucial government support before their baby’s first birthday. Drivers are facing delays on the M4 near Cardiff this morning following lane closures on the eastbound carriageway. According to Traffic Wales, lanes one and two are currently blocked between Junction 33 Capel Llanilltern and Junction 32 Coryton on the M4/A4232 eastbound route. Congestion is building in the area as traffic passes through the restriction. Motorists travelling towards Cardiff are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys and approach the area with caution. There is currently no indication of how long the lanes will remain closed.
