With just two months to go, excitement is building for Indie Beer Festival Wales, a three-day celebration of Welsh beer taking place at Cardiff’s DEPOT from July 9th to 11th. Organised in collaboration between the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates (SIBA) and DEPOT, the festival will bring together some of Wales’ top independent brewers under one roof, showcasing more than 150 Welsh beers. Welsh business confidence picked up in April from previous month’s recent low amid hopes of greater demand according to the latest Cymru Growth Tracker data from NatWest. Meanwhile, cost pressures gained momentum as output and new orders contracted at softer paces in April. The headline Wales Business Activity Index – a seasonally adjusted index that measures the month-on-month change in the combined output of the area’s manufacturing and service sectors – posted 47.9 in April, up from 46.2 in March, to signal a less marked decline in output. Construction is set to begin on the Skyline Swansea project, as the next phase of work gets underway on Kilvey Hill and at Landore Park & Ride. Lidl GB has confirmed plans to open a new store at the former Llanwern Steelworks site on Queens Way as part of the £1 billion Glan Llyn regeneration project in Newport. The new supermarket, which is expected to open next spring, will become Lidl’s third store in Newport and is set to create up to 40 new local jobs, with entry-level hourly pay starting at £13.45. Iceland Foods has announced it will be opening the doors to a brand-new The Food Warehouse store in Merthyr Tydfil on Tuesday 19th May, expanding its product offering and giving local residents a new, enhanced shopping experience.
