The Council has provided a construction update on phase five of the Rhondda Fach Active Travel Route, to establish the route’s final section from Ferndale to Tylorstown. The works are around half-way through, and have included building three replacement footbridges and two pedestrian and cycle links. The 10km walking and cycling route from Maerdy through to Tylorstown has made excellent overall progress since 2023. Exciting plans for a new school building for learners in south Powys have taken another significant step forward with the submission of a planning application, the county council has announced. Powys County Council has submitted its planning application to build a new 120-place primary school to replace Sennybridge C.P. Police have charged a man from Rumney with escaping from lawful custody following an incident at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. Officers received a report just after 7pm on Monday 13 October that a prisoner had escaped from prison staff while on an escorted hospital visit. Daniel Flynn, 24, has been charged with escaping from lawful custody. He also faces charges of robbery and possession of a knife. Flynn appeared at Cardiff Magistrates Court on 18 November and has been remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Cardiff Crown Court next month.

Police are appealing for information to help trace missing man Mark Kinson, who has not been seen since 31 January. Mark was last spotted in the Llanrumney area of Cardiff. There have been possible sightings in Cefn Mably and St Mellons, although these have not been confirmed. He is also known to have links to Caerau, Pentwyn and Adamsdown.
