A sharp rise in potentially misleading health research articles could be due to the use of artificial intelligence tools, a new study suggests. Researchers from Aberystwyth University and the University of Surrey analysed 341 studies published over the past decade that used a large publicly available US dataset to link individual predictors – such as diet, lifestyle, or environmental exposures – to specific health outcomes. Cwmbran-based Amotio has completed a pre-seed funding round of £810,000, led by a £500,000 equity investment from the Development Bank of Wales. The funding will be used to advance technology that will support better post-operative care and recovery times for joint-surgery patients throughout the global healthcare market. A man from Swansea has been jailed after he broke into several houses with the intention of committing a sexual offence. 20-year-old Evan Powell, from Brynmill, was identified using retrospective facial recognition software following reports that addresses had been targeted in the Brynmill area on October 31 2024. Powell was arrested later the same day. On May 1 he was found guilty of four counts of trespassing with intent to commit a sexual offence, and has today been handed an extended sentence of nine years, comprising five years in custody and four years on licence. Financial company Futures First have been confirmed for the 71/72 Kingsway scheme that will accommodate up to 600 jobs. This follows on from the announcement of flexible workspace provider IWG and travel and leisure company TUI as building tenants earlier this year.
