Police are investigating a series of burglaries in Cardiff where offenders have entered homes while residents were inside and asleep. South Wales Police say four so called “creeper” burglaries have been reported in the Riverside area since Friday, March 20. The incidents have taken place at properties on Littleton Street, Wyndham Place, Neville Street and Craddock Street. A creeper burglary involves someone gaining entry through an unlocked door or window while occupants are at home, often during the night. An 18-year-old man has been charged after police seized crack cocaine and a number of vehicles during an incident in Cardiff. Neighbourhood officers from South Wales Police were on foot patrol on Monday morning (March 23) when they spotted an off-road bike being ridden along Ball Lane and the Rhymney River Path. When an officer attempted to challenge the rider, the individual made off, leading to a foot chase. A suspect was subsequently arrested. An 18-year-old man has been jailed after he admitted to killing his mother in Prestatyn last year. On the morning of 24 October 2025, the body of Angela Shellis, 45, was found in undergrowth by a member of the public in the Morfa Nature Park. She had sustained significant head injuries during a brutal attack, committed hours earlier by her son, Tristan Roberts. Roads policing officers at South Wales Police stopped 63 vehicles last week as part of an operation to tackle illegal driving in south Wales. They joined forces with National Highways and the Drivers Vehicle Standards Agency in the week-long operation which began on Monday, March 16, and ended on Thursday, March 19. The Senedd has voted in favour of new regulations that will establish a Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) in Wales from October 2027. The decision marks another important step in Wales’ journey towards a circular economy and tackling litter. A Deposit Return Scheme works by adding a small deposit to the price of drinks in eligible containers when they are bought.
