University spin-out Awen Oncology has secured a substantial equity investment from the Development Bank of Wales and co-investors Start Codon, to further develop a breakthrough range of anti-cancer drugs that target a variety of cancer types. This brings the total funds raised by Awen Oncology to over £1 million. A man has been charged with murder following an incident at a house on Caerphilly Road in Cardiff which was reported in the early hours of Tuesday, August 20. Alcwyn Thomas, 44, from the Heath area of Cardiff has been charged with murder and is schedule to appear before Cardiff Magistrates Court today (Friday, August 23). The victim has been named as Victoria (Vicki) Thomas, 45, from Caerphilly Road in Cardiff. Gregynog Hall, one of Wales’ leading country houses, is preparing to welcome visitors to a Forest Fairy Trail on August Bank Holiday weekend. A brand-new Aldi store in Aberdare opened its doors to customers this morning at 8am, with Team GB rugby hero Sam Cross cutting the all-important red ribbon.
