A new route has been announced for this year’s Christmas Parade in Swansea. Taking place on Sunday November 23 from 5pm, the parade route will begin at the Guildhall where Santa will illuminate the building with a festive red glow, followed by a fireworks display to mark the start of the parade. The parade will then travel down St Helen’s Road, the Kingsway, College Street, Castle Street and Caer Street before finishing on Princess Way. Newport City Council has issued an update on the progress of the new Newport Leisure Centre, confirming that work is moving forward and several key features of the modern leisure and wellbeing hub are now visible as groundworks continue. New photographs show the progress on the riverfront site, near the city centre, including the outlines of the two pools and the lazy river. Contractors Wynne Construction moved onto to the site in November 2024 and, following some enablement work, building began in earnest in January. Wales is set for a mixed weekend of weather, with rain, breezy conditions and even severe flood warnings in place across parts of the country, according to the Met Office and Natural Resources Wales. After a few bright spells this morning (Friday, 7 November), cloud will thicken from the southwest, bringing outbreaks of rain through the afternoon that could turn heavy at times. It will stay mild but become increasingly breezy, with temperatures reaching around 15°C. Rain will move north overnight, leaving much of Wales dry by the early hours. owys County Council has confirmed that whilst Llandrinio Bridge remains closed following last week’s incident, essential repair works are anticipated to begin on 17 November 2025, with the bridge expected to reopen by mid-December. Since the incident, which caused significant structural damage to this historic crossing, council teams have worked closely with contractors and stakeholders to assess the damage and plan the necessary repairs.
