A Blue Plaque is now installed on a house in Neath – the childhood home of a local Hollywood legend. Ray Milland starred alongside prominent stars such as Grace Kelly and John Wayne and was once Paramount’s highest-paid actor during a career which spanned more than 50 years. Newport Bus will run a series of late night services to help music fans travel home safely during the Newport Music Trail later this month. An additional £40.5 million of funding has been allocated this year to support essential capital repairs and maintenance across schools, colleges and universities in Wales. This builds on the previous announcement of £20 million for schools and colleges made in January. This funding will support large scale maintenance works such as replacement of roofs, window systems, heating and ventilation systems, and electrical works, with the funding delivered via the Sustainable Communities for Learning Programme and Medr. Two Newport primary schools have received solar panels as part of £9 million funding to decarbonise public buildings and reduce energy bills. The funding is being provided by Great British Energy, the UK Government’s publicly owned energy company, with the Welsh Government overseeing delivery of the funding in Wales.
