Families can expect dinosaurs, movie cars, fairground rides and plenty of entertainment when the Bargoed May Fairreturns to the town centre on Saturday, May 9.

The popular event will transform Bargoed town centre with more than 50 food, drink and craft stalls, alongside live entertainment, family activities and themed attractions throughout the day.

One of the biggest draws this year will be a collection of 13 replica vehicles from famous films and television shows. Visitors will be able to see favourites including Lightning McQueen, Herbie, Postman Pat’s van and the iconic DeLorean from Back to the Future.

Some vehicles will even be joined by recognisable characters including RoboCop and Barbie, while mascots from popular children’s TV shows and films will also be roaming the town centre for photos with visitors.

Another major attraction will be the Dino Bus, a 39ft American school bus packed with dinosaur themed activities. Families can enjoy colouring tables, photo opportunities, a reading zone and even meet baby dinosaurs during the event.

Children can also earn a special dinosaur hunter certificate by finding 10 dinosaur lollipop stands hidden around the town centre, with participants also receiving a free dinosaur themed A3 poster.

Funfair rides including bumper cars, a monster truck ride, teacups and a funhouse will also be available, with organisers promising discounted prices to make the event more accessible for families.

Visitors can also enjoy free giant inflatable games, donkey rides, birds of prey displays, craft workshops and face painting.

A traditional maypole will be set up on Lowry Plaza near Greggs, with dancers from DYT Dance and Performing Artsencouraging visitors to join in throughout the day.

The event is organised by Caerphilly County Borough Council and funded by Bargoed Town Council.

More information, including parking, travel details, entertainment schedules and stall listings, can be found at Visit Caerphilly event page.

Other upcoming events across the county borough include Risca Beach FEASTival in June, Pride Caerffili in July, Bargoed Summer Music Festival and the Blackwood Beach Party. Full details are available via Visit Caerphilly.
