A lost in time substantial stone and brick built semi-detached west Wales property with awesome mountain top views went for double guide price at auction.

The three bed house in the village of Godrergraig, not far from Swansea listed with a guide price of £54,000 sold for exactly twice at £108,000.

The time warp home, which attracted 44 bids from three bidders, could now prove to be an ideal project for the new year.

Sean Roper, of South Wales-based Paul Fosh Auctions, said: “The house, at 44, Gnoll Road, has had some recent works including the installation of a multi fuel stove but does now require further updating and improvement.

“The village of Godrergraig benefits from a range of amenities and shops. It’s convenient for Ystalyfera with its wide range of shops and transport connections and has good road links to the M4 and Swansea.

“On the ground floor is the entrance hall, lounge and dining room and kitchen while above that are the three bedrooms and bathroom. There are gardens to the front and rear with a marvellous view from the back over the neighbouring forested countryside.

“Properties in this area, once refurbished, could attract monthly rentals of some £800 to £900 a calendar month.”

The next Paul Fosh Auctions, when a variety of lots are on offer, starts at 12 noon on Tuesday, February 4 and ends from 5pm on Thursday, February 6.
