Plans to build one new purpose built Children’s Respite Centre and one new purpose built Adult Respite Centre in Pontllanfraith, Blackwood are progressing.
Following the successful completion of the statutory Pre-Application Consultation (PAC), the Council can confirm that a full planning application has now been submitted for the development.
The proposed development includes a new purpose-built, six-bed Children’s Respite facility for children aged 5 to 18 years located alongside a new eight-bed Adult Respite facility for individuals aged 18 and over. This modern, flexible and accessible site has been designed to meet the evolving needs of service users both now and in the future.
With the planning application now submitted, the proposal will progress through the formal planning process for review and consideration. Subject to planning approval being granted, the Council will be well positioned to move into the tender and construction phase, enabling work to begin on delivering this much-needed respite facility.
Caerphilly County Borough Council spokesperson commented, “If given the green light, this project would deliver a significant investment in the wellbeing of children, adults and families across Caerphilly. Respite services play an essential role in promoting independence, supporting family resilience and helping carers to continue in their caring roles.”
