Caerphilly County Borough Council has announced a series of significant upgrades to its Leisure Lifestyle facilities, made possible through funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). These improvements aim to provide residents with modern and flexible facilities, promote active and healthy lifestyles, and create new opportunities for events and revenue generation. The upgrades align with the objectives outlined in the council’s Sport & Active Recreation Strategy.

Heolddu Leisure Centre: New Group Cycling Studio

Heolddu Leisure Centre now boasts a state-of-the-art group cycling studio featuring Keiser M3i bikes. These top-of-the-line bikes offer an exceptional cycling experience suitable for all fitness levels, introducing a dynamic new workout option for visitors.

Risca Leisure Centre: Interactive Play Wall Coming Soon

An interactive play wall is set to be installed at Risca Leisure Centre’s swimming pool. This innovative feature promises an exciting blend of physical activity and interactive games, offering children and families a fun and engaging way to stay active. Further details about its launch will be announced in due course.

Caerphilly Leisure Centre: Pop-Up Inflatable – Details to Follow

Caerphilly Leisure Centre has introduced a versatile pop-up dry-side inflatable. Designed for specific sessions and events, this feature provides a thrilling activity for families, group events, and birthday parties. A full timetable of sessions is currently under development, with further updates to be shared soon.

Newbridge Leisure Centre: Hippo Slide Installation

Newbridge Leisure Centre has enhanced its swimming pool with the installation of a new and improved Hippo Slide during a recent closure. This addition has already become a hit among families and young swimmers, elevating the leisure experience.

    Clubbercise Classes: Fun Meets Fitness

Clubbercise classes, combining energetic fitness routines with a nightclub atmosphere, have been introduced at Newbridge and Caerphilly Leisure Centres. Featuring glow sticks, upbeat music, and a fun-filled environment, these sessions make fitness accessible and enjoyable for all participants.

    Additional Investments

Further developments funded by the UKSPF include:

    • The creation of a competition structure at the Centre for Sporting Excellence.
    • Pool inflatable activities at Risca Leisure Centre.

    Council Comments

Councillor Chris Morgan, Cabinet Member for Leisure, stated:
“These investments demonstrate our dedication to improving Leisure Lifestyle facilities for residents across the borough. From the interactive play wall at Risca to the pop-up inflatable at Caerphilly, we’re creating modern and engaging spaces that encourage families and individuals to stay active. We look forward to sharing more details about these exciting new features in the near future.”

These upgrades highlight the council’s commitment to fostering healthier, more active communities while providing innovative and versatile spaces for all ages to enjoy.
