Caerphilly’s Community Cohesion Grant for 2025 is now open for applications and will close on 18th July 2025.

If you’re a community group, school or third sector organisation, and you’re looking to bring people together and make your community a better place to live, you can now apply for this grant.

Whether you’re starting something new or looking to grow an existing project, this grant can help make it happen.

Projects that promote community spirit and a sense of belonging are eligible for funding from £500 to £2000.

Apply now and find out more here.

All applications will be reviewed after the deadline, and successful applicants will be notified in September 2025.

Community Mural Brings Positive Change to Crosskeys

A new mural on the Islwyn Road Underpass in Crosskeys has become a symbol of resilience and unity. Initiated by local resident Nicola Ankin to combat rising anti-social behaviour post-COVID, the project transformed a neglected space into a source of pride for the village.

Created by artist Paul Shepherd (Walls by Paul), the mural was designed with input from residents, schoolchildren, and youth groups. It was funded through the Community Empowerment Fund, a Social Cohesion Grant that Nicola was nominated for by PCSO Jason Harris who she works closely with in the community and Tesco/Groundwork’s coin slot initiative via Sarah Warren. Permission for the project was granted by Marcus Lloyd, Head of Infrastructure at CCBC.

The mural has received praise from residents and officials alike, with many calling it “outstanding” and emotionally resonant. Nicola expressed her gratitude and commitment to continuing efforts to restore pride in Crosskeys, thanking all involved, including Sun Belt Rentals and Quantum Traffic Management for their support.

This project shows how community-led initiatives can transform public spaces and foster local pride.
