The Lyric Theatre in Carmarthen has announced the cast for this year’s pantomime, Dick Whittington, which runs from 10 to 28 December 2026.

Steve Elias returns to his hometown of Carmarthen for a third consecutive year as the pantomime dame. Representing the Lyric Theatre at the 2026 National Pantomime Awards, he was nominated for the Stanley Baxter Award for Best Dame. His performing career includes originating roles in London’s West End, and he is also an award-winning director and choreographer.

Carmarthen-born comedian, broadcaster and podcaster Elis James will appear virtually for a second year, this time in the role of The Spirit of the Bells.

The title role will be played by actor and singer Gareth Elis, who is originally from Carmarthen. He returns to the Lyric after playing Jack in the 2023 production of Jack and the Beanstalk, and is a regular presenter on S4C’s Saturday morning programme, Stwnsh.

Alice Mayer, originally from Anglesey, will play Alice Fitzwarren, and Scottish-born professional dancer Shaun McGregor will play Twm the Cat.

Carmarthen actress and singer Alexandra George returns to the Lyric for her third pantomime appearance, playing Queen Rat. Nathan Guy, who has appeared in Imagine Theatre productions for more than a decade, completes the principal cast as Idle Jack.

This is the fourth consecutive year that Theatrau Sir Gâr / Carmarthenshire Theatres has partnered with pantomime producer Imagine Theatre on the Lyric production.

Relaxed performances will take place on 16 December at 6pm and 18 December at 10am, with BSL-signed performances on 18 December at 7pm and 22 December at 2pm. School performances run from 14 to 17 December, plus 10am and 1pm performances on 15 December.

Tickets start from £14.50, with discounts available for groups and schools.
