Celtic Offsite, a new social enterprise in South Wales, has been recognised for its high-quality production and environmental standards.

As part of the United Welsh Group, Celtic Offsite will manufacture timber frame structures for low carbon homes and provide employment opportunities from its factory in Caerphilly.

The factory has been awarded two prestigious International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certifications:

    • ISO 9001 for quality management, underlining consistency and excellence in the design, manufacture, and distribution of timber frame structures
    • ISO 14001 for environmental management, showing Celtic Offsite’s dedication to sustainable development.

Celtic Offsite has also been certified as a Climate Positive business by environmental enterprise Earthly, meaning the business will remove more greenhouse gas emissions than what it produces. This is an annual process and will be achieved through monitoring the enterprise’s carbon footprint and removing it by 110% through collaboration on Earthly projects.

Neil Robins, Managing Director of Celtic Offsite said:

“We are proud that Celtic Offsite has met the high standards set out by ISO and Earthly to achieve these certifications.

“Our team has been working hard these past months to build the factory for production and it has been great to host visits with our partners to share the quality of production and our commitment to tackling the impact of climate change.

“As well as building homes for the United Welsh Group, we will also provide homes for other organisations across Wales. We hope these awards provide long-term assurance to local authorities, developers, other community landlords and future residents that the structures we manufacture for low carbon homes are high quality with sustainability at the heart.”

The timber frame structures by Celtic Offsite come complete with factory fitted insulation and windows. The team is currently building supported housing accommodation for the site of the former Brynmawr Clinic in Ebbw Vale; accommodation which will comprise of five apartments for people with learning support needs with communal living spaces and staff areas.

Richard Mann, Group Chief Executive of United Welsh said:

“Celtic Offsite is a really exciting venture for the United Welsh Group.

“The quality and environmental certifications achieved by the enterprise reinforces our commitment to bringing more sustainable build solutions to the housing market in Wales, as we play our part in ending the housing crisis.”
