Sport Caerphilly is encouraging community sports clubs and organisations across Caerphilly County Borough to apply for support through the Be Active Wales Fund, delivered by Sport Wales with National Lottery backing. The fund is now open for applications and provides a vital opportunity to strengthen grassroots sport and ensure more people can get involved in physical activity. This investment also supports the ambitions of the Sport and Active Recreation Strategy 2019-29 which sets out a long-term vision for inclusive, accessible and sustainable sport across the borough.

The Be Active Wales Fund offers grants ranging from £300 to £50,000 to not-for-profit clubs and organisations. Funding can be used for a wide variety of purposes such as purchasing equipment, improving facilities, training coaches and volunteers or creating new opportunities for people to participate in sport. The fund is designed to help clubs grow, reduce inequality in participation and support healthier, more active communities.

Applications are now being accepted, with Expressions of Interest required by Friday 12th September 2025 at 9am and full applications to be submitted by Wednesday 17th September 2025 at 4pm. A further window will open in November for those unable to apply in this round but clubs are encouraged to submit their Expression of Interest as early as possible to allow sufficient time for the process.

Cllr Chris Morgan, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “This fund is a fantastic opportunity for local clubs to access support and help more people take part in sport. I encourage all eligible clubs to apply.”

Sport Caerphilly can provide direct support to applicants throughout the process, helping to align projects with local priorities and giving clubs the best possible chance of securing funding. For more information or assistance, please contact Sport Caerphilly on 01495 235497 or email [email protected].
