Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival wraps up in style

The Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival celebrated its twentieth year in style as thousands descended on the town to enjoy the annual foodie favourite.

Festival goers lapped up the tempting treats available; moreish meats, vegan varieties, curries, cheeses, chutneys; scrumptious ciders, great gins, sweet treats and so much more, with the new exhibitors that had been lined up for 2024 also proving a huge hit.

As always, the food demos went down brilliantly – moreso than ever this year as standing room only at times while visitors enjoyed watching learning and laughing with the chefs involved during a jam-packed schedule across the two days; something to suit all tastes – from Welsh to Italian, Indian and Sri Lankan dishes featured.

The Old Hall Gardens buzzed with family friendly activities and the launch of the Vale Food Trail at this year’s festival added even more to a fantastic event with its fun programme of entertainment.

It was also great news for charity Blood Bikes Wales who were on site raising awareness and much needed funds for the vital work their volunteers do in assisting the NHS across Wales.

    Festival goer Joy Jenkins commented:

“I’d never been to the festival before and I was totally blown away by how much there was to see and do.  I stopped in to watch the Sri Lankan chef’s demo which was great and obviously totally over-indulged on all the lovely food available.

“I didn’t realise there was so much going on at Old Hall Gardens aswell so that was real bonus; we had an amazing day and I’ll definitely be back next year!”

Summing up this year’s event, Cowbridge Food and Drink Festival manager Tracy James-Lieberman said:

“What a festival this year!  There was such a great atmosphere across the whole weekend and it was fantastic to see festival goers of all ages enjoying their Bank Holiday with us.

“The mix of exhibitors we had went down so well, the food demos were a roaring success and we’ve had some lovely feedback about The Bear Hotel’s mini-indoor festival and the Vale Food Trail which were both firsts for this year.

“I can’t quite believe that’s our twentieth done; it was an absolute blast, roll on 21!”
