    Cyclist, 41, dies in Bridgend crash

    Officers investigating a road traffic collision on the A48 Crack Hill at around 5.50am yesterday have confirmed that the cyclist, a 41 year old man from Pencoed has died as a result of the incident.

    The incident involved a silver Jeep Cherokee and a bicycle heading towards Cardiff.  A 71 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

    A road closure remains in place with investigations continue and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

    South Wales Police is appealing for any witnesses to the incident or to the manner in which the jeep was being driven prior to the collision to contact them or anyone with dash cam footage to come forward.

    Anyone with information is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 and quote reference 2000183468.
