PLAYERS from Dinas Powys FC are sporting a new kits after teaming up with Edenstone Homes.

The club’s first team plays in Division Two of the Welsh Football League.

Home games are played at the Murch playing field, less than a mile from The Woodlands, an Edenstone development on Cross Common Road, and the independent homebuilder was happy to step in and lend some home town support to the club.

Rob Bloxham, from Dinas Powys FC, said:

“Dinas Powys Football Club was formed in 1971 and now has around 350 adult, youth, girls, junior and mini members, making it one of the largest football clubs by membership in South Wales. We’re glad to have the support of Edenstone Homes as their sponsorship has enabled us to purchase new away kits and training tops for the first team.”

By way of thanks, the club presented Edenstone with a framed jersey to display at The Woodlands.

Adele McCoy, sales manager for Edenstone Homes, said: “Sports clubs like Dinas Powys FC are not only a great way for people to stay active, they also bring people together, putting them at the heart of the community.

“Supporting the club is our way of giving something back to the community. We wish all of the Dinas Powys FC teams the best of luck for the remainder of the season.”

The sponsorship is in addition to a package of funding Edenstone has pledged to benefit the community linked to homes being built at The Woodlands.  The company will contribute more than £260,000 towards local education, £100,000 for sustainable transport, along with a community contribution of nearly £50,000.

Further funding will go towards providing a fully-equipped play area on site, as well as a public art contribution.
