The future of electric transport in Wales will be on full display this October, with Transport for Wales announced as the headline sponsor of the EV Rally Cymru 2025.

Taking place on 22 and 23 October 2025, the high-profile event celebrating Wales’ leadership in sustainable mobility will see a convoy of electric vehicles (EVs) travel from Wrexham to Cardiff, via Ynys Môn, Aberystwyth and Pembrokeshire.

The route will showcase the growing strength of Wales’ EV infrastructure and highlight key green energy and transport initiatives along the way.

Tony Clayton, Decarbonisation Programme Manager at TfW, said: “Powering the EV Rally Cymru is part of our mission to transform transport. Wales is leading the charge in EV infrastructure, and TfW is accelerating that journey.

“Events like EV Rally Cymru help bust myths, build confidence, and show how far we’ve come. We can’t wait to get started.”

TfW is partnering with TrydaNi, a not-for-profit EV community car club provider, to field a team which will include Kevin Booker, IT and Fleet Manager from Bannau Brycheiniog, who holds multiple Guinness World Records for efficient EV driving. Representatives from the car club, Transport for Wales and Welsh Government will also be in the team.

Wales currently has the fourth highest number of publicly available EV charge points per capita in the UK, and TfW is playing a key role in expanding access, particularly in rural and underserved areas. Through its work with local authorities and national partners, TfW is helping to deliver rapid and fast chargers across the strategic road and rail network.

The rally will also spotlight clean energy innovation, with teams visiting checkpoints featuring projects at the forefront of the clean energy transition. These projects reflect the intrinsic link between clean transport and clean energy – a connection TfW is proud to champion.
