Entrepreneurs from across Pembrokeshire recently gathered at the Twr y Felin Hotel in St David’s for the first Pembrokeshire Enterprise Network event of 2019.

The event provided small to medium sized enterprises in the county, with the opportunity to learn from other small businesses from both Pembrokeshire and across Wales. Attendees were able to network, make new connections and share experiences.

Speaking about the Pembrokeshire Enterprise Network, Iwan Thomas, Chief Executive of PLANED said: “This is a network aimed at supporting and connecting businesses and entrepreneurs on the issues that matter to them. We at PLANED want to hear from them about the issues they want to discuss, areas they want support with and any ideas for speakers, topics and venues for future network events.”

The audience gathered at Twr Y Felin on 29 January heard from a range of speakers who took those assembled on a broad ranging journey of experiences from a local, regional, and national perspective:

Rich Brady, Managing Director of Brady Global based in Denbigh delivered a raw and honest presentation that shared his personal experiences of being part of a family business; including the high and lows of managing a small team in a turbulent economic environment.

Iwan Thomas, PLANED then in a change of pace and tone, interviewed Gareth Reynolds on the various aspects of Dale Sailing which operates both locally and internationally from their base in Pembrokeshire.

Rob Basini, the FSB Cymru Development Manager South Wales, highlighted that they currently have almost 700 members in the county and aim to help smaller businesses achieve their ambitions. They do this through the range of services they offer their members.

Miranda Thomas, from Business in Focus raised awareness of the Carmarthen Enterprise Hub which links in with the Bridge Innovation Centre in Pembroke Dock. Part of the Welsh Government’s drive to provide support for entrepreneurs across South West Wales.

Iwan rounded off the event thanking the speakers, attendees and Twy y Felin hotel for hosting the event, and promoted future activities for the network that would be delivered in partnership with businesses across the county, during the forthcoming year.
