Escape to the Darran Valley is a free, guided walking event taking place on Sunday 21stSeptember at Parc Cwm Darran Visitor Centre and Café, organised by CCBC Countryside Service in partnership with Caerphilly Adventures.

The day will feature a choice of guided walks designed to suit all abilities. Four 8.5-mile led walks will follow the Escape to the Darran Valley trail as closely as possible, including a reverse-route option for a fresh perspective. Weather permitting, participants will enjoy breathtaking views across the valley. Two shorter options ranging from 2 to 5 miles will provide a gentler experience, following a looped path around Parc Cwm Darran and allowing walkers to choose how far they’d like to go, ideal for those who prefer flatter terrain.

All walks will be led by qualified and experienced walk leaders, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Participants are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather and terrain, bring water to stay hydrated, and use hats and sunscreen for protection. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead.

Cllr Chris Morgan, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: “This event is a brilliant way for people to enjoy the outdoors and be more active. By offering guided walks for all abilities, we’re helping create healthier, more active communities and making the most of a fantastic setting at Parc Cwm Darran.”

This event reflects the Council’s commitment to its Sport and Active Recreation Strategy 2019-2029, promoting opportunities for residents to enjoy physical activity, improve wellbeing, and experience the outdoors together. Whether seeking a challenge or a relaxed stroll, Escape to the Darran Valley provides the perfect chance to connect with nature and discover the beauty of the local landscape.

Advance registration is required via Eventbrite.
