Do you have a child with sight loss? You can give them the best possible start in life with Guide Dogs My Time To Play, a programme of fun and supportive group sessions coming to Cardiff and Gowerton.

The sessions are completely free and designed to help your child develop the practical skills and confidence to explore their world – all through the power of play. They offer a chance to meet other parents and pick up skills from expert staff that will help you support your child’s early development with confidence.

Led by qualified habilitation specialists, Guide Dogs My Time To Play helps children with sight loss to develop a broad range of skills and encourages them to use their non-visual senses. Each session is based around a sensory story and includes songs, movement and related activities.

The programme comprises seven in-person sessions, but all activities can be done easily at home using everyday items if travel is difficult. Free online resources complement the group sessions and contain useful information and guidance, as well as a nursery rhyme songbook with fun actions, and activity sheets.

The sessions are designed for children aged four and under, but the age range is flexible for those with additional needs. The sessions will take place fortnightly as follows:

    • Cardiff: from Friday April 25, 10am-noon, Guide Dogs Centre, Eastern Business Park St Mellons CF3 5EA
    • Gowerton: from Friday May 2, 12.30pm-2.30pm, St John’s Church, 14 Church Street, Gowerton SA4 3EA

Email [email protected] or ring 0800 781 1444.
