BBI Solutions’ patented Novarum™️ technology transforms a smartphone into a diagnostic test reader, empowering users to read and share the results of rapid tests from the point of care.

Their pioneering technology can be used with minimal training, connecting patients and doctors, field workers, lab researchers and primary care clinicians to specialist practices as part of a mobile eco-system.

Novarum holds patents in Europe, the US, China, Japan and Russia and BBI is also ISO 13485:2016 certified for Medical Device Quality Management Systems.

The technology can play a valuable role in the support of infectious disease diagnosis, tracking and epidemiology. Accuracy, connectivity and ease of use makes it invaluable for medical, veterinary, defence, agricultural and environmental testing.

Dr Neil Polwart, BBI Head of Mobile, has over a decade of experience in the development and delivery of next generation diagnostic technologies within mobile health (mHealth). Having studied Chemistry with Polymers and Advanced Materials, he began a career with the Ministry of Defence research arm DERA working on biosensor technology before undertaking a PhD modifying diamond surfaces for sensing applications. Following this, Neil founded a business detecting Legionella bacteria in water, which went on to become one of BBI’s customers.

Since the acquisition of Novarum by BBI in 2016, Neil has had overarching responsibility for all things mobile at BBI Group. Neil and his digital team ensure customers unlock the value created from this technology. This is achieved through working closely with clients to help define their business strategy and customise a solution to suit the condition or subject for diagnosis.

For many healthcare organisations, mobile technology provides an opportunity to revolutionise patient care. The innovative platform also has exciting applications in human clinical, industrial, veterinary and food safety sectors.

Dr Neil Polwart, Head of Mobile at BBI Solutions, will be delivering a free webinar on building mobile solutions to support the diagnostic journey, where he will explore how BBI’s Novarum™ smartphone diagnostic platform is adding value to manufacturers, payers, clinicians and patients to support point of care testing.

The webinar, ‘The Mobile Diagnostic Journey’, will take place on Wednesday 21st October, 2:30pm – 3:30pm BST.
