The Aloud Charity have gathered their mass virtual choir Everyone Aloud for a special St David’s Day performance, with Sir Bryn Terfel joining as a soloist.

The charity asked members of the public to submit videos of themselves singing in order to join the virtual choir, and they received over 100 videos from across the world, from the USA to Japan, Germany to Holland.

Current and ex-members of Only Men Aloud, Only Boys Aloud and Only Kids Aloud joined in along with the public, and multiple members chose to submit as a family, with three generations submitting videos. With the age range around four to 80, everyone across the nation got involved to celebrate St David’s Day.

The choir will perform three iconic Welsh songs; a short version of the Only Boys Aloud arrangement of ‘Sospan Fach’ and Max Boyce hits ‘Up & Under’ and ‘Hymns & Arias’, with all voices and videos merged to create one massive choir.

Craig Yates, Acting Music Director at Aloud, said: “The response from around the world was phenomenal; we received hours of footage to edit, which took me about five days! Having such a renowned performer as Sir Bryn to perform a solo makes it extra special, and we can’t wait for the public to see it and celebrate with us.”

Sir Bryn Tefel said: “What fun to be involved with ‘Everyone Aloud’ on our special patron Saint celebrations! Apologies to Max Boyce for my rendition of his hilarious composition.”

Rachel Dominy, Chief Executive of Aloud, said: “We wanted to do something special to celebrate St David’s Day, but in the current climate restrictions limited us. When the idea of Everyone Aloud was mentioned we immediately loved it and hoped the public would too, which over 100 of them did! We can’t wait to release the performance and hope it brings a much-needed smile to everyone’s faces.”
