A large cannabis factory containing up to 120 plants has been uncovered at a property in Briton Ferry following information provided by the local community.

South Wales Police said officers obtained an emergency search warrant over the weekend to enter a property on Middleton Street after receiving intelligence from members of the public.

When officers entered the property, they discovered between 100 and 120 cannabis plants being cultivated inside.

Police said the smell from the grow could be detected strongly from the street.

Officers also found that electrical wiring at the property had been tampered with, creating what they described as a danger not only to the address itself but also to neighbouring properties.

No people were present inside the property at the time of the warrant being executed.

The cannabis factory has since been dismantled and the plants seized.

An investigation into the operation is ongoing.
