LIGNIA Wood Company, the manufacturer of the groundbreaking real-wood alternative to Burmese teak, LIGNIA Yacht, has announced it is exhibiting at the Monaco Yacht Show for the first time in 2019.

The show, which takes place between 25th – 28th September, is one of the world’s premier superyacht events. It is set to welcome over 30,000 visitors and will showcase 125 luxury yachts in Monaco’s iconic harbour.

LIGNIA’s expert team will be based within the Superyacht UK Pavilion in Port Hercules, demonstrating LIGNIA Yacht – real wood decking for yachts that is taking the world by storm.

The unique product, which is a beautiful and fully sustainable alternative to Burmese teak, is created via a timber modification process at LIGNIA’s state-of-the-art plant in Wales.

LIGNIA’s FSC®-certified wood is harvested from sustainably-managed plantations and is the first of its kind to be produced in the UK. The process results in a product that has the physical properties and aesthetic of popular hardwoods. It is the only proven, sustainable real-wood alternative to Burmese teak, up until now the standard wood species used in the yacht building sector for decks.

The team will also be working with London-based luxury superyacht broker, Burgess, to which it is supplying a LIGNIA Yacht deck to be laid down in the Burgess hospitality terrace, situated in the Quai L’Hirondelle. The deck is being built by superyacht deck builder Moody’s in Fareham.

Steve Rogers, commercial director at LIGNIA Wood Company, said: “LIGNIA Yacht is really gaining traction in the yacht world and we’re delighted with the progress and take up from yacht brands and naval architects. As a real wood yacht deck LIGNIA Yacht matches Burmese teak decks for beauty, durability and ease of maintenance and we are now seeing our decks on beautiful yachts. Exhibiting LIGNIA Yacht at Monaco is a very important step for us in terms of engaging with as many leading brands as possible.”
