Penderyn Distillery, the pioneer that revived Welsh whisky after a century-long hiatus, is proud to announce its leading role in the first-ever Wales Whisky Festival. Set to take place from November 1-3, 2024, at the St George’s Hotel in Llandudno, North Wales, this groundbreaking event marks a significant milestone in the resurgence of Welsh whisky.

Stephen Davies, CEO of Penderyn Distillery, says, “We are thrilled to spearhead this historic festival, which not only showcases the exceptional quality of Welsh whisky but also celebrates our nation’s rich distilling heritage. The Wales Whisky Fest 2024 is a testament to how far we’ve come since Penderyn reintroduced Welsh whisky to the world in 2004.”

The three-day festival promises an immersive experience for whisky enthusiasts and novices alike. Highlights include:

    Opening Night Gala (November 1):

A special opening party featuring a four-course dinner paired with Penderyn’s finest whiskies

An opportunity to meet Penderyn’s master distillers and learn about the art of Welsh whisky-making

    Main Event (November 2):

Showcasing 25 whisky producers from around the globe
Exclusive tastings of rare and limited-edition whiskies
Food pairings designed to complement the complex flavors of featured whiskies
A complimentary highball cocktail bar sponsored by Larkfire Wild Water
Special guests and industry experts sharing insights into whisky production and appreciation

    Exclusive Experiences (November 3):

Masterclasses led by renowned whisky experts

Special tastings at Penderyn and Aber Falls distilleries

Behind-the-scenes tours of Penderyn’s Llandudno facility, offering a glimpse into the modern face of Welsh whisky production

Throughout the weekend, festival ticket holders will enjoy free tours and tastings at both Penderyn Distillery in Llandudno and Aber Falls Distillery in Conwy, providing a comprehensive exploration of Welsh whisky craftsmanship.

The festival has garnered support from key players in the Welsh spirits industry, with Aber Falls Distillery, Larkfire Wild Water, Whisgi Wales Podcast, and Daffodil Tours joining as sponsors.

This collaboration underscores the growing strength and unity of the Welsh whisky sector.

Laura Davies from Penderyn says: “The Wales Whisky Fest 2024 is not just a celebration of Penderyn’s journey, but of the entire Welsh whisky renaissance. We’re proud to have played a pivotal role in bringing Welsh whisky back to prominence, and this festival is a platform to showcase the world-class spirits now emerging from Wales.”

Penderyn’s involvement in the Wales Whisky Fest 2024 is a natural extension of its mission to put Welsh whisky on the global map. Since its founding in 2000 and the release of its first whisky in 2004, Penderyn has been at the forefront of the Welsh whisky revival, earning international acclaim and numerous awards for its innovative approach to whisky-making.

The festival is expected to attract whisky aficionados from across the UK and beyond, further cementing Wales’ position as an emerging whisky destination. With its breathtaking location in Llandudno, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the beautiful North Wales coast while indulging in some of the finest spirits the country has to offer.

Tickets for the Wales Whisky Fest 2024 are now available, with options ranging from single-day passes to full weekend experiences. Early bird discounts are being offered for a limited time.
