Leading independent insurance brokers Towergate Insurance Brokers is among the local businesses who have been thanked for their support following the annual Saundersfest event in Saundersfoot.

Held from 7-9th July, Saundersfest is a unique celebration of live music in Saundersfoot. The event which featured local acts and headliner Wynne Evans, has been hailed as a big success.

Chris Williams, Chair, Saunderfest said: “The Saundersfest and Tenfoot Swim committees would like to say a massive thank you to all the businesses who have supported us this year in difficult economic times. We truly appreciate the support as we would not be able to run these events without it, and the people who attend and the charities who benefit would miss out.

“Saundersfest was a great success (helped greatly by the support we got from the weather), we have received nothing but great feedback and it will certainly help raise the profile of the village further.”

Sadly, the first post-pandemic TenFoot swim had to be cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. Two hundred people were signed up to take part in the 5.5KM swim from Tenby’s North Beach to Saundersfoot’s Coppet Hall Beach.

Chris said, “Unfortunately, we had to take the very difficult decision to cancel the TenFoot Swim. Due to the high winds that were forecast it would not have been safe for us to allow swimmers and the water safety volunteers to go out on the water. People were obviously disappointed but again the feedback has been very positive with everyone supporting our decision to put safety first.”

Justin Newton, Area Managing Director Wales at Towergate Insurance Brokers, said: “Sponsoring local events like Saundersfest and the TenFoot Swim is so important to us as an organisation. These are tough times for local event organisers and we want to do everything we can to ensure that these crucial community events not only survive but thrive.

“As brokers who pride ourselves on our local connections, what’s core to our business is embedding ourselves into the communities in which we serve, and this event is one close to many of people in the local area and also our colleagues.”
