A man has been jailed for over four years for stealing from a house in Cardiff.
Lloyd Paterson, 28, of Butetown, was jailed for 54 months on March 31. This followed a guilty plea to burglary dwelling and theft – no violence at Cardiff Crown Court on February 24.
Officers were called to an address on Aberystwyth Street, Splott, on July 22 at around 5.20am to reports of a burglary. Paterson had entered the house and stolen a Nintendo Switch, a wallet and contents, a mobile phone, and an e-scooter.
Paterson was identified to officers at the scene and enquiries began to locate him. During arrest enquiries in Adamsdown, Paterson attempted to evade officers by fleeing on foot, however he was pursued on foot by officers and arrested shortly after.
Detective Chief Inspector Catherine Loosemore said:“Paterson entered the victims’ home and stole from them which undoubtedly has had an impact on their sense of safety. I hope this sentence goes some way in helping them feel safe in their home once more.”
