Fonmon Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan is kicking off the next bank holiday and half term with a weekend of magic and mayhem featuring magicians, magic and a quest hunt.

Running on May 27-29, the ‘Magic and May-Hem’ weekend incudes an adventure challenge taking players around Fonmon’s extensive estate through woods and gardens, the Jurassic Wales dinosaur park and the Medieval Court and Grange searching for the ‘magic word’ – which will conjure up a chocolate gift.

Along the way, questers will meet wizards, witches and owls.

The event will also give visitors complete access to the whole estate including its playgrounds, castle gardens, pirate play area and story trail.

Ross O’Hennessy, who runs the attractions at Fonmon and is also well-known as a Game of Thrones actor, says it will be the castle’s most magical weekend yet.

“We’re delighted to have reopened for the summer season and this – our first big event of the year – promises to be a smash,” he said. “It’s an exciting quest full of adventure, with the chance to meet some magical characters along the way. It’s a great family day out and a chance to see all the new additions at Fonmon this year, including an expanded dinosaur park, or new Dino Discovery Lab, and a chance to dig for dinosaur bones.”
