    A mobile testing unit will be visiting the Swansea Valley in the coming days, to offer a convenient drop-in testing option for people with either the ‘classic’ signs of coronavirus or other symptoms they may feel are unusual for them or their child.

    These may include flu-like symptoms, including any or all of:

    • myalgia (muscle ache or pain);
    • excessive tiredness;
    • persistent headache;
    • runny nose or blocked nose (unless this is a known hay fever symptom for the individual);
    • persistent sneezing;
    • sore throat and/or hoarseness, shortness of breath or wheezing;

    Testing will also be open to anyone generally feeling unwell who has been in contact with a known COVID-19 case, or anyone with new or changed symptoms following a previous negative test.

    A booking will not be needed, people can simply turn up at Pontardawe Leisure Centre and be tested if they have any of the above or the three ‘classic’ coronavirus symptoms:

    • Fever
    • a new continuous cough
    • or a loss/change of taste and smell

    Following the test, people will be instructed how to register their results.

    The Mobile Testing Unit will be located at Pontardawe Leisure Centre, Parc Ynysderw, Pontardawe, SA8 4EG from Saturday 27th March to Friday 2nd April and will offer ‘drop-in’ testing from 9am-7pm.

    The move is part of an effort to drive down cases as much as possible in our communities, helping to allow restrictions in Wales to ease further.

    Swansea Bay University Health Board is now offering testing for the expanded range of symptoms across its testing facilities, although booking is required at the other venues. This can be done at: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

    Online booking are also required for the Mobile Testing Unit currently located at The Welfare Ystradgynlais, Brecon Road, Ystradgynlais which is operated by Powys Teaching Health Board.
