Cardiff Airport is preparing to welcome more than 46,000 passengers over the Easter getaway period, marking a significant rise in demand for travel.

The airport has reported an 18% increase in passenger numbers compared to the same period last year, highlighting a strong start to 2026 for the Welsh travel hub.

Between March 27 and April 12, a total of 46,158 passengers are expected to pass through the airport, with 23,211 arrivals and 22,947 departures.

Popular destinations for Easter travellers include Alicante, Dublin and Málaga, with flights operated by airlines including Ryanair, Vueling and TUI Airways.

For those seeking warmer weather, direct flights are also available to the Canary Islands, including Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, alongside other popular European destinations such as Faro and Palma.

Jon Bridge, CEO of Cardiff Airport, said: “It’s been an incredibly positive start to 2026, with passenger numbers rising and approaching the one million mark. This summer promises to be our busiest season since the pandemic, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome travellers through our doors.

“I want to extend my thanks to all our teams, whose dedication ensures customers can start their holidays smoothly and with a smile. Their commitment is what makes Cardiff Airport such a warm and welcoming place for everyone.”

Passengers travelling over Easter are being advised to allow plenty of time before their flight and to check with their airline or tour operator for the latest travel updates.

With growing demand and an expanding range of destinations, including new long-haul options such as Toronto, Cardiff Airport is aiming to make 2026 a standout year for travel.
